Bike Streets

Bike Streets is a free, community-built Low-Stress Bike Map that helps you find calm, comfortable routes so you can ride your bike almost anywhere with less traffic stress. Riders share their favorite routes and connect them into a citywide map, available through bikestreets.com or the Bike Streets app (iOS and Android). It's more than a map, too: riding with Bike Streets adds your voice to a collective push for cities to invest in better bike infrastructure. Toledo already has its own Low-Stress Bike Map on the platform.

New Multi-Use Path on MLK Bridge Connects Toledo's Riverfront

Posted 9/3/2026

A new 12-foot-wide multi-use path is now open on Toledo's Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Bridge, creating a safer, more accessible connection for people walking and biking between Downtown Toledo and East Toledo. Stretching more than 1,600 feet across the Maumee River, it's an important new link in our growing network of trails, parks, and riverfront destinations — one step closer to a continuous riverwalk connecting Metroparks and neighborhoods on both sides of the river.

Getting this across the finish line took years of work and persistence. The City first applied for funding back in 2019 and kept working with regional, state, and federal partners to make it a reality — including $500,000 in federal support secured by Rep. Marcy Kaptur for the bridge. That effort let us make a significant investment in Toledo's riverfront while protecting local resources.

Today, residents and visitors can safely walk or bike across the Maumee while enjoying easier access to Toledo's growing riverfront network. This is more than a new path — it's another connection between our neighborhoods, our parks, and our river, and another step toward a fully connected Toledo riverfront.
