Metroparks to extend Wabash-Cannonball trail

The Toledo Metroparks received a $2.1 million grant to extend the the Wabash-Cannonball hike and bike trail into eastern Fulton County. The project will include replacing hard‐packed cinder ballast and areas of dirt and grass with pavement from the Lucas-Fulton line to State Rt. 109. See more details in the Toledo Blade article.

August 26, 2017 there will be a twilight ride to celebrate cycling in Lucas County. The ride will start at Spoke Life Cycles (6363 Monroe St) and end at The River Center Foundation (5445 Mains St). There will be an after party starting at 9:30 that will have snacks, cool drinks, and craft beer. For more information and registration click here.

Oregon Trail Website

On Bike to Work Day the city of Oregon launched a website dedicated to the Oregon bike trail. This new website gives the locations of trails, parking, restrooms, bike rental locations, areas with refreshments, and locations of bike fix-it stations. The list also gives the exact mileage from one point to another. You can check out the Oregon Trail website here.

New Mountain Bike Trails for Toledo Cyclists

A new single track mountain biking trail opened on May 7th at Oak Openings Preserve, this trail features some technical skill tests like a curved ladder plank bridge, obstacle bumps, and a teeter-totter bridge. Read the full  Toledo Blade article here.

Wednesday, the Lucas County Commissioner approved projects to expand the University Parks and Chessie Circle Trails, taking another step towards the Toledo Metroparks' vision of having bike trails connecting the parklands. Check out The Blade's article to learn more.
