Posted 5/13/2025
5/16 Update: See pics from this year's event!
Bike to Work Day is celebrated each May to promote cycling as a healthy, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective alternative to driving. It's a great opportunity to rethink your commute, reduce your carbon footprint, and enjoy the physical and mental benefits of starting your day with a ride. Communities across the country host events to encourage more people to give biking to work a try — even if it’s just for one day.
Here in the Toledo region, you can join a group ride from Sylvania to Downtown Toledo on Friday, May 16. The route is designed for comfort and safety, following bike-friendly streets at a relaxed 10–12 mph pace. Riders can join at several pickup points, including Sylvania, the University of Toledo, and Downtown Toledo. All are welcome — including e-bikes and scooters. Full details are available at the Commuter Project!
May is National Bike Month
Posted 5/1/2025
May is National Bike Month — a time to celebrate all the benefits of bicycling and encourage more people to give it a try. Whether you're biking to work, school, the store, or just for fun, riding a bike is a simple way to stay active, reduce your carbon footprint, and explore your community.
Bike Month is also about promoting safer streets, better bike infrastructure, and the idea that biking should be accessible and enjoyable for everyone. Across the country, communities are hosting group rides, safety workshops, and bike-to-school days to get more wheels turning.
If you're new to cycling, now is the perfect time to start. And if you're a regular rider, invite a friend to join you this month. Every ride makes a difference. Explore events in Toledo and the surrounding area on the TMACOG website.
