Ride of Silence
Join cyclists worldwide in a silent slow-paced ride to honor of those who have been injured or killed while cycling on public roadways. The ride is held in May during Bike Safety month and aims to raise the awareness of motorists, police and city officials that cyclists have a legal right to the public roadways. You can find out more about this worldwide campaign at www.rideofsilence.org.
Locally, check the TMACOG Bike Week Calendar or visit www.wearetraffic.org for details. The route typically starts/ends at the UT Parking Lot 1 North, located at the corner of Bancroft and North Towerview Blvd. The ride is slow-paced (12 mph Max.) covering 7.8 miles and is escorted by police. The event is free and open to the public. Helmets are required.
